Advent Wreath Family prayer time.

Advent this year will be a little different , we can not join together in school or in church but we can do things virtually.

In class the children will be preparing for Advent, by reflecting daily with YMT, (The Youth Ministry Team), on the theme - 'Wait a minute - It's Advent'.

We thought it would be lovely if the children could continue to journey through advent as a family at home by exploring and prayer with the advent wreath

Make your own Advent Wreath

The wreath is round, with no beginning or ending, reminding us that God is everlasting. The greens are a sign of hope and life. They come from outside where the earth is resting, and suggest the  continuation of life.

We light one candle for each week as we get ready to celebrate Jesus’ birthday on Christmas Day. The Wreath reminds us that life comes around and goes around: through it all God remains with us.

Something fun to make: Make an edible evergreen wreaths!

You will need:

32 large marshmallows

6 tablespoons butter

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1/2 teaspoon almond extract

1 teaspoon green food colouring

4 cups of cornflakes

Red sweets

Melt the marshmallows and butter in a large pan over a low heat.

Mix in the flavourings and food colouring.

Add the cornflakes and stir well.

Take a spoonful of the mixture, drop it onto waxed paper, and form into small wreaths.

Decorate with red sweets before the wreaths harden.
