Earth Day Information

Dear Parents and Carers

Earth Day is on 22nd of April 2024. Due to the huge success of our Earth Day challenge last year, the Geography team have decided to  invite the children, once again, to take part in an Easter Upcycling Challenge! Upcycling means reusing waste to create something different, useful or better than it was. We think that upcycling is brilliant for a number of reasons:

  1.      It reduces the amount of waste going into landfill sites.
  2.     It means that you don’t have to buy something new which causes pollution and uses energy.
  3.     It is a creative and fun way to learn about helping our environment.

Spend your Easter holidays investigating and creating your own upcycled product. A prize will be given for the best entry in Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

At the bottom of the page are some photos of upcycled items for inspiration.

Your entry should be returned to your class teacher by Tuesday 16th April 2024 It should be clearly labelled with your child’s name and a very brief explanation of what the product is.

We hope you have fun with this!

Best wishes

Mrs Margo, Mrs Brown and the Year 6 ‘Here & Now’ Geography Team
